Our chocolate tea balls are made from 100% premium Jamaican cocoa beans, grown in the Blue Mountains of Port Antonio, Jamaica. Traditional Jamaican ‘chocolate tea’ is made out of a whole cocoa bean preserving all its natural antioxidants, nutrients, and flavor. It’s great for all recipes that call for chocolate. These 100% Jamaican Chocolate Tea balls are unsweetened 100% ground cocoa for traditional Jamaican hot chocolate. In many cacao-producing countries the cacao beans are locally used for making "cocoa tea". The fermented beans are ground to a fine paste, mixed with spices, and rolled into balls. These balls are used for making "cocoa tea", which in other countries is called a "hot cup of chocolate".
The cocoa balls contain both the cocoa powder and the cocoa butter which is naturally present in the cacao beans (the cacao beans contain approximately 50% cocoa butter) which means that the flavor of the final "tea" is very rich and similar to making hot chocolate using a dark chocolate bar dissolved in hot milk/water mixture.
Directions: Add 3 Cups of water to a pot along with 1 chocolate ball. Let it dissolved in boiling water, add nut milk then strained and sweetend to taste. Usually one ball gives 1-2 cups of final "cocoa tea".
