The leaf of life is a medicinal plant, very common in Jamaica. It is also a popular houseplant and has become naturalized in tropical and subtropical areas. It is widely used as an herbal remedy for many different types of ailments, especially bronchial conditions.
Its scientific name is Kalanchoe pinnata, and it is also known as Bryophyllum pinnatum and Cotyledon pinnata. It used in folk medicine as a good remedy for hypertension, bruises, boils, ulcers, insect bites, ear-aches, sprains, swelling, arthritis, tap-worm, cleans bladder, kidney stones, Gastric Ulcer, Pulmonary Infection, Rheumatoid Arthritis etc.
An herbal tea made from this herb is useful to treat conditions such as shortness of breath, kidney failure, menstrual problems, asthma, coughs, bronchitis, as well as chest cold.

Also known as: Air Plant, Cathedral Bells , Miracle Leaf, Life Plant, Leaf of Life, Love Bush, Live Forever, Goethe plant. Several studies have shown that the plant has antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, detoxing, immune-boosting, anti-cancer and anti-pain properties. In addition, this plant also has significant antihistamine and anaphylactic properties. Also, the Leaf of Life plant has been shown to have anti-diabetic properties as well as working as an intestinal cleanse. The plant has also been shown to rid the body of mucus. The plant is usually taken as a tea or the leaf juiced or eaten raw.
